I’m officially the owner of a used bicycle that I purchased from someone on Ecuentra24!

I enjoy riding bikes but I have been hesitant to purchase one in Panama City because the only place to really safely ride one is at Cinta Costera or the Amador Causeway so I used to rent one whenever I would go there. With the announcement of the Ciclovia bike lane every Sunday it finally gave me a reason to purchase a bike.

5SecondsAppI did the Ciclovia for the first time this past Sunday and I am so glad this initiate has started in Panama. I live in San Francisco so I was able to hop on the Ciclovia lane on Cincuentenario and I went all they to Chorillo. It was well organized with plenty of traffic officers and there was also a complimentary hydration point on Cinta Costera.

It honestly kind of felt unreal to be able to ride a bicycle on the streets of Panama and I hope this is a glimpse into the future of better things to come with bicycle use here. Maybe someday we will have real bike lanes!

You can check out the Ciclovia for yourself every Sunday from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm. The route goes from Panama Viejo to Cinta Costera and onto the new viaduct to Cinta Costera 3. If you don’t have a bike I noticed rentals available at the hydration point on Cinta Costera or you can run / walk on the Ciclovia lane as well.
