More signs of the next segment of the metro are taking shape around Panama City, as construction moves forward at a rapid pace.
Metro Line 2 is about 50 percent completed and should be ready for passengers by May 2019, Agustín Arias, director of projects and planning of the Panama Metro told La Estrella. Working is moving forward on 16 stations on the 21-kilometer line, with the Mañanitas the most advanced, he said.

Several improvements have been made from the design of Line 1, Arias said. Extra lanes have been added at stations in case of breakdowns and more stations will have roof coverings on the platforms. Several of the new stations will have extra tracks and more services, as the metro begins to offer different routes around the city, Arias says.
Panama Metro authorities The Panama Metro estimates that the segment will handle 200,000 people daily.
