There’s been a number of rooftop bars opening over the past few years and Panama City’s tropical climate creates the perfect environment for them. Check out these places and enjoy the spectacular views and beautiful people.

Selina is where you’ll find the cool kids of Panama City sipping on cocktails and craft beer. The decor is tropical chic, utilizing lots of plants and vibrant murals splashed along the walls. They organize lots of weekly events like live salsa music, electronic music DJs, acoustic concerts, and more – so you can always count on something going on. You can also stay at Selina if you want to always be in the middle of the action.

One of the highlights at La Concordia Hotel can be found at the Numen Rooftop where a striking 360º view of Panama City’s skyline offers a priceless way to admire the city’s iconic landmarks. This gastro lounge offers a wide variety of cocktails and fusion tapas, hookahs, and live music to enchant your night out in Casco Viejo.

Bao Dai

Bao Dai is an upscale Asian eatery and rooftop in Casco Viejo. On the gorgeous rooftop terrace, you can enjoy one of their delicious house cocktails while listening to chill house beats.

Pantera is a super fun rooftop to start the party early. On Wednesdays – Saturdays they have a $10 all-you-can-drink-champagne happy hour from 6 pm – 10 pm. They also organize lots of entertainment throughout the week with live music, stand-up comedy, and more. After 10 pm, the place converts from dinner and drinks to full party mode.

Salvaje is where you’ll find affluent locals dressed to nines. It’s located in the trendy Casco Viejo historic district with luxurious, tropical touches and a view of the skyline. Besides the gorgeous rooftop, they have a multi-floor restaurant dishing out creative Japanese cuisine that rivals any world-class city.

El Faro

El Faro sits on the border of Casco Viejo and the skyscrapers of Panama City view a gorgeous view of both. They are famous for their seafood dishes, mojitos, and other rum-based drinks.

StorX Sky Lounge

StorX is at the entrance of Casco Viejo and has an amazing 360-degree view of the city. They have daily happy hour and food specials, making it an enjoyable and affordable spot to hang out.

Compadre Barber’s Club

Compadre is a five-floor building in Casco Viejo with a different ambiance on each floor. The first floor houses a super hip barbershop and as you climb the stairs you’ll find a tattoo studio, vintage museum, bar, and of course – the rooftop.

W Panama

The W Panama is located in the heart of Panama City’s shiny skyscrapers and offers a gorgeous view from the pool terrace. It’s technically not a rooftop but it’s high up enough and makes a great spot to socialize with a cocktail.

AC Hotel

The AC Hotel is also located in the city center and offers a sweeping view with an incredible infinity pool. The cocktail bar on the roof is only opened on the weekend but you can buy a drink on the lobby level any time and bring it up.

Capital Bistro

As you enter the historic Casco Viejo district, Capital Bistro is probably the first rooftop you’ll notice. It’s perched right at the entrance with a beautiful view of the ocean and skyline.

Casa Casco

Casa Casco features three different restaurants, a nightclub, and a beautiful rooftop terrace overlooking the historic district. My advice is to head up here at 6 pm for a spectacular view of the sunset.

Tantalo was the first rooftop bar in Casco Viejo and it’s still one of the best. The hipster stringed lights and view of the modern Panama City skyline is the perfect ambiance to sip on a passion fruit mojito. There’s also something going on almost every night of the week like live art on Tuesday, latin music on Wednesday, ladies night on Thursday, and a mix of music on the weekend. Plus they have an amazing happy hour on weekdays with half price drinks before 7 pm.

The Panaviera is located on the 66th floor of the Ocean Sun Casino, part of the JW Marriott Hotel and has the best view of a city sunset. As you walk in, the doors open to an over the top infinity pool flowing over the cityscape. The rooftop opens at 5 pm and I recommend arriving at that time to catch the last glimpse of the sun going down over the hills.

Lazotea is located on the rooftop of Hotel Casa Panama and boasts great ocean and city views. It’s an ideal place to have dinner & drinks before heading out to one of the more rowdy places in Casco Viejo to party.

Gatto Blanco

Gatto Blanco is an intimate rooftop in Casco Viejo that’s not overly fancy or pretentious and they always have good electronic house music playing if you’re into that.

Stands for Bar In The Sky and they aren’t joking. It’s located 62 floors above Panama City at the Hard Rock Hotel and has a birds eye view of Panama City. Let’s just say you’ll feel your ears start to pop as you go up the elevator. The entire bar is surrounded by glass walls that let you take in the amazing city views.

  1. We went to The Roof yesterday, the promotion for 2 for 1 beers is in fact for Fridays, not Thursdays.

  2. Rocio Szpilfegiel

Visiting Panama with my son (23) to celebrate his graduation! I have not been in Panama in over 30 years! and want to show my son the beauty of my country, looking for Roof Top Amazing views but suitable for mom son quality time…….Will appreciate your comments

  3. Omegaman

1400 and barlovento are WAAAAYYYY overpriced!!

  4. Great line up. There are 10 girls heading to Panama in February and we want to make it an aamzing weekend. Where is the ultimate best, yet classy place to party? Keep in mind we are all closer to 30 than 20??

    • Brian Gregory

Casco viejo has several clubs and bars for partying. You can walk around in the old town at night it was very safe and you can follow the crowds to the different spots. There is also a bar crawl company that does bar hopping there in casco.

  5. Hey Joey, you should check out floor 15 on the best Western plus zen hotel, it has a nice rooftop bar. Pending a second floor inauguration

  6. Paola Elizaga

next post – underground bars: Relic, Onplog, El Apartamento 🙂

  7. A great idea, enjoyed reading your round-up of rooftop bars (I didn't know about the Panamericana!) I enjoyed going to the Manrey when it first opened and found the food to be excellent, as well. Today Tantalo has probably taken the number one spot in my list of favorites, since it's so easy to have dinner and drinks there.

Panama has come a long way from the days when the Costa del Sol housed the only rooftop bar in the city (and the only Indian restaurant in town was downstairs!)

I really liked this report. Now I got a couple of places to add at my night's party. Congrats for this blog. We need that kind of blogs in Panama. I would like to read a report about beaches. It could be nice.

  9. Awesome, with the ever-changing nightlife in my home country, it's hard to figure out where to go everything I go back. Keep up the good work!
