We love Panama City…well, for a lot of reasons…but especially for the way it offers the best of so many worlds. Where else can you find authentic culture beautifully blended with first world amenities? Historic landmarks amidst the bustle of modern day commerce? A well developed city that’s still packed with so much potential for growth?

Panama City has a lot to offer, and I don’t just mean the shopping and nightlife. Because, while our eBook does focus largely on the quality of life in each of the destinations we highlight, we also consider other factors that are important for folks considering becoming an expat or investing in Panama City.

Things like affordability, real estate investment potential, accessibility, and much more.

Why Panama City Shines

Some key elements that make Panama City desirable for expats and investors include its prime location as a major transportation hub, its increasing prominence on the international banking scene, and the incredible infrastructure improvements it’s undergone over the past few years.

I’m also especially optimistic about the resurgence that’s taking place in some of the poorer areas of the city. With so much development opportunity, it’s an ideal place for the entrepreneurial expat to get a good return on investment while also influencing the future of the area.

Another major benefit is that expats and investors have the utmost favor of the Panamanian government. As the current administration continues to push tourism and economic growth, they’re actively encouraging foreign investment, and their arms have never been more open to newcomers. Initiatives like relaxed residency requirements and tax-free incentives make Panama City an even more attractive option for expats.

Prices in Panama City (on everything, but especially real estate) aren’t the lowest in the country. Quite the opposite, in fact. But I could easily argue that the level of amenities offered in the city more than warrants the higher price tag.
