There’s been a number of rooftop bars opening over the past few years and Panama City’s tropical climate creates the perfect environment for them. Check out these places and enjoy the spectacular views and beautiful people.
Salvaje just opened earlier this year and is the hottest rooftop in Panama City right now. It’s located in the trendy Casco Viejo historic district with luxurious, tropical touches and a view of the skyline. Besides the gorgeous rooftop, they have a multi-floor restaurant dishing creative cuisine that rivals any world-class city. Located at Ave A & Calle 10B Oeste, Casco Viejo.
The newly opened W Panama is located in the heart of Panama City’s shiny skyscrapers and offers a gorgeous view from the pool terrace. It’s technically not a rooftop but it’s high up enough and makes a great spot to socialize with a cocktail.
The AC Hotel is also located in the city center and offers a sweeping view with an incredible infinity pool. The cocktail bar on the roof is only opened on the weekend but you can buy a drink on the lobby level any time and bring it up.
As you enter the historic Casco Viejo district, Capital Bistro is probably the first rooftop you’ll notice. It’s perched right at the entrance with a beautiful view of the ocean and skyline.
Casa Casco features three different restaurants, a nightclub, and a beautiful rooftop terrace overlooking the historic district. My advice is to head up here at 6 pm for a spectacular view of the sunset. Located at Ave A & Calle 10B Oeste, Casco Viejo.

Tantalo was the first rooftop bar in Casco Viejo and it’s still one of the best. The hipster stringed lights and view of the modern Panama City skyline is the perfect ambiance to sip on a passion fruit mojito. There’s also something going on almost every night of the week like live art on Tuesday, latin music on Wednesday, ladies night on Thursday, and a mix of music on the weekend. Plus they have an amazing happy hour on weekdays with half price drinks before 7 pm. Located on Ave B & Calle 8a Este, Casco Viejo.
The Panaviera is located on the 66th floor of the Ocean Sun Casino, part of the JW Marriott Hotel and has the best view of a city sunset. As you walk in, the doors open to an over the top infinity pool flowing over the cityscape. The rooftop opens at 5 pm and I recommend arriving at that time to catch the last glimpse of the sun going down over the hills. Located on Calle Punta Chiriqui, JW Marriott Hotel, Punta Pacifica.
Lazotea is located on the rooftop of Hotel Casa Panama and boasts great ocean and city views. It’s an ideal place to have dinner & drinks before heading out to one of the more rowdy places in Casco Viejo to party. Located on Ave Eloy Alfaro & Calle 11 Este, Casco Viejo.
The Roof is located in Panama City’s eclectic Via Argentina neighborhood on the top floor of the Best Western Hotel and offers a great central view of the city. Located on Calle Gasper O. Hernandez & Via Argentina, top floor of the Best Western Hotel.
This intimate rooftop is one of my favorites in Casco Viejo. It’s not overly fancy or pretentious and they always have good electronic house music playing if you’re into that. Located on Ave B & Calle 8a Este, Casco Viejo.
Stands for Bar In The Sky and they aren’t joking. It’s located 62 floors above Panama City at the Hard Rock Hotel and has a birds eye view of Panama City. Let’s just say you’ll feel your ears start to pop as you go up the elevator. The entire bar is surrounded by glass walls that let you take in the amazing city views. The downside to this bar is they don’t open until 8 pm so you miss the sunset and they often charge a $20 entrance fee. Located on Ave Balboa.
