In 2013, Panama received more than 2.2 million tourists that generated about $3.3 billion for the country, a 7.8% increase from the year before.
According to the official information, March was found to be the month that generated the most income with $323.5 million. 69.4% of the tourists arrived through the Tocumen airport, which serves the capital.
49.7% of the of the tourists were from South America, 24.4% from North America, 11.1% from Europe, 9% from Central America, and the rest came from Asia.
The occupation rate of tourists in hotels in in Panama City were 56.7%, a drop of 3.7% compared to 2012, in which the ATP says this is because of the increased amount of hotel rooms available.
