Looking for somewhere out-of-the-ordinary to stay in Panama? I’ve rounded up a list of places that you will never forget! From castles made out of plastic bottles to jungle treehouses to private beach escapes, here are the most unique and unusual places to stay in Panama.

Plastic Bottle Castle

In Bocas del Toro, Panama you can find the one and only Plastic Bottle Village where “one man’s trash is another man’s condo”. The unique concept behind the village is to reuse all of the plastic bottles littered around Bocas and use them as the inner insulation for housing construction. Within the village, they have created a castle made entirely out of plastic bottles that you can actually stay at! Castle Inspiration has four levels and contains 40,000 PET bottles. The castle includes two guest rooms accommodating 4 people per room on the first floor, a Royal suite accommodating up to 12 people on the second level, a dining/bar area on the third floor, and a gathering level with a fantastic view on the fourth.

Casa Mariposa

El Valle is one of my favorite quick getaways from Panama City. It’s a quaint small town that has taken up root in a dormant volcano crater with comfortable spring-like weather year-round. One of the most unique bed and breakfasts here is Casa Mariposa. What makes this place unique is that besides having friendly hosts and a gorgeous property is that the hosts have rescued a few sloths. As a guest, you have the chance to learn about the sloths and interact with them while they’re awake.
