Panama Ferry To Colombia Begins Operations

On Monday October 27 2014, Ferry Xpress took off from Panama’s Colon port to begin its first voyage to Cartagena, Colombia.

This is the first ferry service to connect Panama and Colombia and it offers an affordable “cruise” experience with tickets starting at $99 each way. The ferry features several restaurants, a bar, nightclub, sun deck, duty free shop, and kids playground. The duration of the trip is 18 hours and you can even bring your car for an extra free to explore either destination.

Ferry Xpress is also making regular trips to Bocas del Toro with tickets starting at $75 each way and lasting 12 hours.

Here are the details on prices and you can visit their website for complete details:

With the introduction of this ferry and Viva Colombia Airlines launching in Panama this year, it has become more affordable than ever to visit Colombia and I think this is going to help increase tourism between the two countries. I’ve been to Medellin and Bogota, Colombia so I can’t wait to try out this service to see Cartagena. Since it takes 18 hours to get there I’ll most likely use the ferry to get there and then fly back on Viva Colombia.
