Black Friday Increases Hotel Occupancy In Panama City

Panama began adopting it’s own Black Friday tradition in 2012 and since then this crazy holiday has grown bigger each year. Stores realize it’s a way to boost their sales for the month, locals can buy more affordable Christmas presents, and now it is attracting tourists from Central and South America that want in on the doorbuster deals.

The Hotel Association of Panama estimates that hotels in Panama City will be at an occupancy rate of 70% for the upcoming Black Friday weekend beginning on November 28. According to the Tourism Authority of Panama, hotel occupancy has dropped to 59% this year (Central America Data), so the influx of tourists coming for Black Friday is welcomed. Many of the tourists come from Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and a few of the Caribbean countries.

For this year Multiplaza Mall is advertising that they will open their doors at 6:00 am and close at midnight and customers will be able to take advantage of deals of up to 70% off. Parking will also be completely free the entire day.

Albrook Mall, the 11th largest mall in the world, is advertising discounts of up to 75% and will be open from 8:00 am to 10:30 pm on the 28th.
